After the synagogue, we continued our way towards the city centre.

From Trg Slobode we passed many bars and restaurants, the city was alive and full of people.

And we arrived at this beautiful city gem! Zmaj Jovina Street is named after the renowned Serbian poet Jovan Jovanović Zmaj, this enchanting street is a true embodiment of the city’s charm, culture, and beauty.

We may be showing our age, as we have a great appreciation for local markets! Recently, we stumbled upon a fantastic one located just a few steps away from Zmaj Jovina Street. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there, purchasing some delicious local honey. Although we were tempted by the beautiful homegrown tomatoes, we refrained from buying them as they would not have survived our travels. This market is definitely worth a visit!

Monument to the victims of the Raid

We suggest taking a relaxing stroll towards the Danube River. On the way to the famous fortress, you may want to visit the Monuments of the Victims of the Raid. These monuments serve as a reminder of a dark time in the city’s history when many lives were lost during a fascist raid in 1942. The memorials are more than just sculptures. They are a symbol of strength and hope, and a plea for us to remember the tragedy and prevent it from happening again.
